Cayenne PROJECT Build
Cayenne 957 – Off-Road Transformation
I’m taking a 957 Porsche Cayenne Turbo (2007–2010) and turning it into a full off-landing rig.
The goal? Build something wild, functional, and repeatable so other 957 owners can follow along—and fix their own cars with the upgraded parts I’ll be making.
Here’s the plan:
-
3" lift kit for true off-road clearance and Tubular Control Arms (DONE)
-
32" all-terrain tires paired with 20" wheels (DONE)
-
Modernized head unit + refreshed electronics
-
Baja Designs Squadron retrofit in the headlights (DONE)
- TBD Dark Olive Car Wrap
- TBD Removing the Bumpers
-
Replacement + upgraded hardware for all the common 957 failure points
-
(Every part I design will become available here on the shop.)
-
I’ll be documenting the entire build—from teardown to fabrication to final trail testing—on YouTube. As new parts are created, they’ll be added to this page so YOU can upgrade or repair your own 957 with confidence.
3” Lift Kit, Tubular Control Arms, and Off-Road Tires (December 2025)
The first major milestone in my Porsche Cayenne 957 off-road build was installing a 3” lift kit and tubular control arms. This was a full DIY install and took approximately 12 hours using proper tools, floor jacks, and jack stands. The process is not plug-and-play — it requires dropping both the front and rear subframes as well as removing the front air suspension struts, making it one of the more labor-intensive upgrades on the vehicle.
Despite the time and effort, the results were immediate and well worth it.
The added 3 inches of lift, combined with larger all-terrain tires, completely transformed the Cayenne’s stance and capability. Ground clearance is significantly improved, and the vehicle now has a far more aggressive, off-road-ready presence. This setup not only enhances trail performance, but also gives the 957 a bold look that stands out both on and off the road.
One of the most rewarding parts of this milestone has been the reaction from others. Many people are genuinely surprised to see a lifted Porsche Cayenne, but that surprise quickly turns into appreciation. Breaking the mold of what a Porsche “should” look like is exactly what this build is about — and this milestone firmly sets the foundation for everything that comes next.

Headlights Revamp + Baja Squadrons LEDs (January 2026)
After nearly 17 years of UV exposure, the factory headlights on the Porsche Cayenne 957 were due for attention. Instead of replacing the entire headlight assemblies — which can easily exceed $1,000+ — I opted for a more cost-effective headlight restoration by replacing the lenses themselves. At roughly $55 per lens, this approach preserved the OEM housings while delivering a dramatic visual and functional upgrade.
The full process took approximately 6 hours from start to finish. This included about one hour to remove the original headlight lenses and clean away the factory sealant, several hours dedicated to sanding and painting the interior surrounds in satin black, and another hour to install the Baja Designs Squadron lights and rework the wiring.
The results were immediately noticeable. The refreshed headlights give the Cayenne a far more stealthy, modern appearance, eliminating the dated chrome look and restoring clarity lost to years of sun damage. More importantly, the improved light output is substantial. The new lenses allow maximum light transmission, and the Baja Designs Squadron LEDs provide significantly stronger and more usable illumination than the worn, faded setup ever could — especially when using the high beams.
This milestone not only modernizes the front end visually, but also greatly improves nighttime visibility, making it one of the most satisfying upgrades in the build so far.

More to come. Stay tuned.
