Don’t replace the whole actuator if only the weak point failed.
A common failure point on the 2014–2020 BMW i8 is inside the door actuator assembly. Over time, the small plastic section that is pulled by the internal metal rod can crack or break, causing the door handle mechanism to stop working properly. When this happens, getting in and out of the car can become difficult or impossible.

This repair part was developed specifically to address that known weak point. Using the original component as a reference, I scanned and recreated the failed section to restore function to the actuator without needing to replace the entire assembly.
Instead of using standard OEM-style ABS plastic, this replacement is made from carbon fiber nylon, offering a stronger and more durable solution for a part that sees repeated stress in use.
Replacing the full actuator can cost $500+, and many used donor actuators suffer from the same failure. This makes this repair a practical, cost-effective alternative for restoring door function while avoiding the high cost of a full replacement.
